SINGLE REVIEW: Song Like That by Kaylee Keller
""Most would agree most popular artists out there have something truly special to give to their fans. This goes above the typical attributes like raw talent, amazing songs, nice voice, or even a very marketable look, sound & image. There’s something truly infectious at the core of these artists that simply makes us feel good when we listen to them. Whatever “it” is – they all seem to have “it”.
Today I listened to the latest single from Kaylee Keller: “Song Like That”. Venturing to her website I get the impression this is one artist that is extremely determined and passionate about the songwriting craft. From start to finish this single from Keller delivers, and is a very entertaining musical experience from start to finish.
It has a very warm and inviting Pop-Rock quality to it, and even dabbles in Dance-Pop. It also reminds me of Missy Higgins, Vanessa Carlton, A Fine Frenzy and KT Tunstall. Any fans of any of these musical styles or artists will enjoy this latest song from Keller. It’s clearly marketed for those who like a female vocal front and a song that will make you want to get up and dance. I get the impression Keller and company are letting it all hang out via this compelling musical teaser. In other words she hits the mark remarkably well by just by being who she is musically. She’s a capable singer and if she can dance and write music – that would make her quite the musical threat, and yes she has the look that fits this style of music to a “T”. The song also strikes the perfect balance between rock, dance pop and hooky pop.
The songwriting is impressive and digs a bit deeper than the next independent pop artist. Within each second Keller bares her soul and delivers what I would call pure musical mojo. It offers much in the way of passion and compelling-thought provoking lyrical content – but is carefree nonetheless. The playing and production work is to industry standard and just makes the whole song more enjoyable. The overall vibe of the production is very uplifting and cheerful with pockets of hope shining through.
I see Kaylee Keller as a diamond in the rough, with an amazing amount of potential. As time goes by we will no doubt hear more from her. She is a lucrative record contract waiting to happen. I also wouldn’t be surprised to hear her music on the Radio someday. I’m also eager to not only hear more music from her but to also see what the future holds for her as it looks bright from my perspective. In close most famous artists out there have “it” I’m not so sure what it but Kaylee Keller has whatever “it” is."
